Roofing services for the First Coast

Every job starts with a free inspection and a straight answer. Here's what we do and how each service works.

Inspector examining shingles on a Florida roof

Free roof inspections

A Shield Roofing inspector spends about 90 minutes on your roof and around your home. We check everything that keeps water out, photograph anything that needs attention, and walk you through what we found in plain language.

  • Shingles, tiles or panels: missing, lifted, cracked or worn
  • Flashing around chimneys, walls, skylights and vents
  • Ridge vents, pipe boots and roof penetrations
  • Soft spots that point to damaged decking
  • Gutters, drip edge and fascia
  • Interior ceilings and the attic for signs of leaks

No cost and no obligation. If your roof is fine, we'll tell you.

Insurance claim help

After a hurricane, tropical storm or hail, it can be hard to know whether damage is worth a claim. We inspect the roof, document storm damage with dated photos and measurements, and give you a written scope you can share with your insurer.

  • A clear answer on whether the damage looks storm-related
  • Photo documentation and a repair or replacement scope
  • We can meet your adjuster on the roof
  • Help comparing your adjuster's estimate with the actual damage

Florida has firm notice deadlines for roof claims. Our guide explains them: Filing a roof insurance claim in Florida.

Roof replacement

When a roof is at the end of its life, we replace it with a complete Owens Corning system built to Florida Building Code. You'll get a written estimate that spells out materials, scope and timeline before anything starts.

  • Full tear-off down to the decking, with rotten wood replaced
  • New underlayment, drip edge, flashing and ventilation
  • Shingle, metal or clay tile, your choice
  • Permits and inspections handled for you
  • Magnetic sweep and full cleanup when we're done
  • 10-year workmanship warranty

Roof repair

Most leaks start small: a lifted shingle, a cracked pipe boot, a gap in the flashing. We find the source, not just the stain on your ceiling, and repair it so it stays fixed.

  • Leak detection and repair
  • Missing, loose or damaged shingles and tiles
  • Flashing, pipe boots and ridge vent repairs
  • Damage from fallen limbs and storms
  • Metal roof fastener and seam repairs

Roof tune-ups

A tune-up is maintenance for a roof that's still in good shape. Florida sun, salt air and summer storms wear down seals and fasteners long before the shingles themselves fail. A tune-up catches that early.

  • Reseal flashing, pipe boots and exposed nail heads
  • Secure loose shingles and replace a few damaged ones
  • Clear debris from valleys and gutters
  • Check attic ventilation
  • Photo report of your roof's condition for your records

A good time is before hurricane season starts in June. See the roof tune-up checklist.

Roofing materials we install

Each one suits a different home and budget. We'll explain the trade-offs for your roof during the inspection.

Architectural shingle roof

Asphalt shingle

The most common roof in Jacksonville. Owens Corning architectural shingles in a wide range of colors, including high-wind-rated lines.

Standing seam metal roof

Metal

Standing seam panels that reflect heat, handle high winds and last decades. A strong choice near the coast.

Clay barrel tile roof

Clay tile

Heavy, fire-resistant and very long-lasting. We repair cracked and slipped tiles and install new tile roofs.
